I have been teaching yoga since September of 2014 and am a registered restorative yoga teacher. I specialize in restorative yoga, yin yoga, gentle yoga and slow flow vinyasa. I received my 200-hour teacher training from Urban Breath Yoga in May of 2014 and completed the Relax and Renew training, with Judith Hanson Lasater, in October of 2015.
My Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is that everyone can benefit from and practice yoga. In fact, I think everyone should practice yoga! My goal is to ensure that students leave my classes feeling calm, energized and more connected to themselves. I like to help students reconnect with their bodies and gain more self-awareness and self-acceptance, all of which they can take off the mat and into their daily lives.
My Life Outside of Yoga
In addition to teaching yoga, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Missouri and I currently counsel children in the school setting. When I am not practicing or teaching yoga, I like to spend time with my husband and two daughters. I also enjoy traveling, listening to music and spending time in nature to rejuvenate.
Why I Practice Yoga
I started practicing yoga over 15 years ago as a way to release stress and reconnect with myself. Yoga and meditation have become daily parts of my life and have changed my life in so many ways. I find myself wanting to treat myself better, my body better and those around me better. Yoga influences the decisions that I make in life and guides me both on and off the mat.
